Last day to register to vote

NOBLESVILLE — Hamilton County is in search of a few good poll workers.

According to a news release from Hamilton County, many of the workers who would normally work the polls on Election Day will be unable to do so because they fall into the high-risk category for COVID-19, the novel coronavirus.

County Clerk Kathy Williams said the paid positions are ideal for teenagers and schoolteachers who will be out of school by the June 2 primary election.

"If you're out of school and would like to help us we'd love to have you," Williams said. "A lot of the seniors who typically fill these roles just can't do it this year, so we're hoping the younger generation will step forward and fulfill their civic duty."

Williams said she needs at least 100 workers, possibly more if the Indiana Election Commission should decide the election will be conducted entirely through absentee ballots. That decision has not yet been made.

All Hoosiers now have the option to vote by mail in the primary election.

Those who are interested in working the election may download a form on Hamilton County's website. The form requires a signature from a principal if you are under 18 years of age, but that signature is being waived this year.
